What is empathy?

By definition, The term “empathy” is used to describe a wide range of experiences. Emotion researchers generally define empathy as the ability to sense other people's emotions, coupled with the ability to imagine what someone else might be thinking or feeling.

When is Empathy Week?

Empathy Week takes place from Monday 10th March until Friday 14th March.

Why have Empathy Week?

Empathy Week has been developed by Empathy Studios, which consists of educators, qualified teachers and professional filmmakers. The team believe in starting early to develop the essential skills young people need, both personally and professionally. They state, “If we can't understand ourselves or connect with others, we struggle with a range of issues, including belonging, mental health, and self-esteem.”

During the week, the team deliver in person or online talks, films and resources to help upskill children and young people to have a better understanding of themselves and therefore each other.
